I was home the other day and I thought to myself, “hmm….” I really am craving some mashed potatoes and gravy. However, not just any mashed potatoes and gravy. I want it to be just like KFC.

Unfortunately I was told KFC’s mashed potatoes and gravy actually come in a powdery form and then you just add water. So I said to myself, let’s give it a try and DIY it!

For this recipe you need:

4 white potatoes

1 ½ sticks of butter

⅓ cup hot milk

Salt & pepper

1 cup of flour

2 cups of chicken stock

On a stove, boil water and a sprinkle of Larry’s into a pot.  Cut and boil your potatoes for about 20 minutes. Once the potatoes are boiled, drain and transfer into a bowl.

To your bowl add half a stick of butter, one third cup of hot milk, salt and pepper, and began to mash it all up.

Once you have created these creamy mashed potatoes, set them to the side to begin to create your gravy.

In a new pot melt one stick of butter with one-fourth cup of oil and mix together. Then slowly add your flour to the pot and immediately whisk. Keep stirring and slowly adding in flour. Once all the flour is added, switch and begin to add your chicken broth. Give it a mix and then simmer for about 10 minutes. If you’d like to darken your gravy just as I did add in Grace Browning.  Remember a little goes a long way.
