Black tea lemonade is by far my favorite drink at Starbucks. And I thought to myself, hmmmm…what if I tried to make this right at home? And this is the recipe I came up with.
For this recipe, you need Earl Grey tea. At Starbucks they use Tazo, I prefer however, Tetley.
One can of frozen lemonade from concentrate and simple syrup for taste.
First, you want to bring three cups of boiling water to steep two tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for five minutes. While the tea is steeping begin to make your lemonade. I personally let my frozen lemonade thaw out a little bit before deciding to mix it up. This way it’s easier and there’s less chance of any frozen pieces. Add two cans of water to your lemonade from concentrate. After giving that a mix and letting five minutes go by for steeping it’s time to add your tea to your lemonade.
Place the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving.
And now here’s the Starbucks secret!
Now the secret to the most authentic tasting black tea lemonade from Starbucks is in the tumbler. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the tumbler. If you notice, when you go to Starbucks, they’re not stirring your drinks. They’re shaking it. I’ve added to my tumbler about 6 cubes of ice and 1 tablespoon of simple syrup. Now I’m going to give this a good shake -about 10 times- pour it out and tell you how it tastes.
Mmm!!! My kitchen smells like I’m at Starbucks. Now time to taste it.
That is delicious. Absolutely delicious. Can I just tell you guys a secret? I never knew until making my youtube video Earl Grey was the tea of choice for black tea lemonade. No clue, because I actually really don’t like Earl Grey, but like this, I think Earl Grey is absolutely perfect!
